Questions
What changed on 1 July 2026?
The tax rate on income between $18,201 and $45,000 fell from 16% to 15%. It's legislated to fall again to 14% from 1 July 2027.
Is this exactly what my payslip will show?
It's close. Employers use ATO withholding tables that round slightly differently, and HELP debts, salary sacrifice and other deductions aren't included.
What is the Medicare levy?
A 2% levy on taxable income that helps fund Medicare. People on low incomes pay less or nothing.
How much super does my employer pay?
At least 12% of your ordinary earnings, paid on top of your salary unless your contract says your pay includes super.
