Questions
Do first home buyers pay stamp duty in Victoria?
Not on homes up to $600,000, if you're eligible and live in the home. Between $600,000 and $750,000 duty is reduced on a sliding scale.
What is the principal place of residence concession?
A lower duty rate for buyers who will live in the home, on properties up to $550,000.
Are there other costs?
Yes. Expect a land registration fee, mortgage registration, conveyancing and inspections. Off-the-plan purchases may also get a duty concession, which this calculator doesn't include.
Is this exact?
It's an estimate. The State Revenue Office works out the final amount, and eligibility rules apply to concessions.
